About Us

Flanders is the northern federated state of Belgium with Brussels as its capital. It is the gateway to Europe and is located at less than 300 miles from the major European capitals. It shares its own capital with the EU, NATO and numerous other international institutions and companies. Together with the renowned seaports, the extensive railway and road network, the productive and highly educated population, the excellent healthcare and the R&D-friendly climate, this is what makes Flanders unique in Europe.

The New York City based General Delegation the Government of Flanders to the USA is the diplomatic presence of Flanders, a regional government of the federal country of Belgium that enjoys full treaty making powers. Together with Flanders Investment & Trade and Visit Flanders, the General Delegation is your source of information on Flemish cultural, academic, economic, touristic, and scientific activities and exchanges in New York and the rest of the United States.

We are located on the 44th floor of The New York Times Building in Midtown Manhattan and aim to be a bridge between Flanders and the United States. Flanders House can easily be reached by public transportation. It is located right across Port Authority (buses from New York & New Jersey) and is also easily accessed via Subway Station Port Authority - 42nd Street - Times Square (lines N, R, Q, W, A, C, E, 1, 2, 3, 7, S).
