After obtaining his Law degree at the University of Antwerp (Belgium), Kris went on to specialize in the field of Diplomacy and International Relations. He obtained a Masters Degree in Diplomacy and International Law from the University of Paris, followed by a Masters Degree in International Relations from the University of Antwerp.
Kris has been active in the field of Foreign Policy for over a decade. He has worked for the Belgian State Department, where he specialized in International and European Security Affairs, and for the Western European Union (WEU).
From 2002 onwards, Kris has been working as a diplomat for the Flemish Department of Foreign Affairs. He was Deputy Director of the European Union unit, before becoming the Representative of the Flemish Government to the United Nations in Geneva.
Early October 2009, Kris was appointed by the Flemish Government as director ad interim of Flanders House New York.
