North Sea Texas at Film Society of Lincoln Center
Flemish director Bavo Defurne’s movie North Sea Texas will be showing on Sunday, July 29, at the 24th edition of Newfest, New York’s premier LGBT Film Festival and one of the world's most comprehensive showcases of international LGBT film. As always, the program, which takes place at the Film Society of Lincoln Center, includes a compelling collection of narratives, documentaries, shorts and panels. North Sea Texas is a masterful coming-of-age story set in 1960s Belgium revolving around young Pim who loves his next-door neighbor and lifelong friend, the handsome, motorcycle-riding Gino. As the friends become older, Pim and Gino begin a passionate affair, but Pim is heartbroken when Gino takes up with a girlfriend. Does the sexy biker truly love Pim, or is he just experimenting? And what about the arrival of a handsome carnival worker, who stokes the desires of both Pim and his single mother?
