Collection of Information
Anyone may visit and use the Site, but only (i) members of Flanders House; (ii) staff of Flanders House; (iii) certain service providers and other third parties permitted by Flanders House may become Members, create a Member Account (“Account”) and access and use portions of the Services that are restricted to Members.
Flanders House collects Personal Information from you when you voluntarily register to become a Member and create an Account. When you register and create an Account you will be required to provide your first and last name, the name of your League and the password provided to you by your League. You have the ability to decide and may choose to provide us with certain other Personal Information during registration. You are also permitted to provide other information in connection with the creation of your Account profile (“Profile”) which may include photos, descriptions of your involvement with Flanders House or other Member Content (as defined in the Terms). You are responsible for all information that appears in your Profile and are aware that all Members will be able to view the information that you make available (whether Personal Information or any other information).
We may also collect your name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, and/or credit card number and pin/access code in connection with any transaction you initiate through the Site or your use of the Services such as making a purchase or registering for an event (i.e. conferences and seminars).
Flanders House may also collect and include on the Site information about the various Leagues and their activities. This may include information about you from other sources, such as League newsletters or other communications, newspapers, and from other users of the Services.
When using the Services, you may, depending upon whether you are a Member, among other things, create your Profile, post messages to the Profile “wall” of another Member, conduct searches, join or form a group, register for an event, and transmit and make available information to other Members. Flanders House will collect information regarding your Account activity to assist us in understanding the way our Members use the Services so that Flanders House can continue to improve the Services and facilitate the communication and networking of Members through the Services. This type of Account activity information is primarily retained so that when you access your Account you can view prior activity and retain access to posts or messages you have sent or received.
Regardless of whether you are a Member or a non-member user of the Site, Flanders House may collect certain non-identifying information related to your use of the Services as you navigate and use the Site including your browser type and IP address. This type of information is collected to monitor usage and improve the Services.
How Information Is Used
Flanders House uses your Personal Information and any other information you provide in your Profile or otherwise to facilitate your use of the Services by allowing you to edit the such information and present your Profile. The Personal Information and other information you provide will also be used by Flanders House in connection with certain features of the Services accessible by Members only such as being included in a Member listing or directory.
If you make a purchase using the Services, Flanders House will use your Personal Information to process and ship your order and your Personal Information may also be used in connection with any Member support function in connection with your order.
As part of the function of the Services, Flanders House may from time to time send you e-mail notifications and alerts related to your Account which may include, for example, notification when another Member makes a post on your profile “wall”.
Flanders House may use your e-mail address to provide you with notices regarding Flanders House events, resources, services, meetings or other activities and benefits of Flanders House and the Leagues which may be relevant or beneficial to you in connection with your membership in a League.
The Personal Information and other information that you provide and post as a Member whether in your Profile or otherwise in connection with your use of the Services is accessible by other Members and is done at your own risk. A primary function of the Services is to allow you to share your information and communicate and network with other Members. You have the ability to decide what information you will make available to other Members via your Profile and through your use of and participation in the Services. The Services design and your selection of privacy settings allows you to determine what information you make available to other Members.
No method of security can provide absolute protection and we are not responsible for the breach or other failure of any privacy settings or security measures contained in the Services. You understand and acknowledge that, even after any information you make available via your Profile and through your use of the Services is deleted or removed from the Services, copies of such information may continue to be viewable if contained in cached or archived pages or if any of such information has been copied or stored by another Member, any person with whom you may have shared your information or any person that accessed your information without authorization.
Sharing Your Information with Third Parties
Service Providers and Contractors: We may engage third party service providers or contractors to perform certain business functions for us which may include, but are not limited to, fulfilling orders, order shipment and delivery, sending postal mail and e-mail, maintaining member lists, conducting workshops, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, processing payments, performing computer system and Services maintenance, and providing hosting services. Any service provider or contractor engaged to perform a business function on our behalf may have access to your information in connection with the performance of their services. Generally, these service providers and consultants will be obligated to use your information only as necessary in connection with their provision of services and to maintain reasonable safeguards to protect your information.
Enforcement of Laws/Legal Requirements: We may share your information to comply with applicable laws or in cooperation with legal authorities, which may include, among other things, disclosure of your information in connection with a subpoena or court order. Additionally, we may share your information when we believe it is necessary to enforce the Terms or to protect the rights and property of Flanders House, Members or non-member users of the Site or to protect the health and safety of any individual.
Transfer or Sale of Business: In connection with our continued operations, we may combine (whether by merger, membership, purchase or other method) with another entity or transfer or sell a portion or all of the operations or the assets to another entity. In the event of any of these types of transactions your information may be among the assets transferred or may come under the control of the new entity.
Flanders House does not sell or, except as stated above, share your information with third parties for marketing purposes or otherwise without your permission.
Links to Third Party Websites; Corporate Partners and Sponsors
When you visit a website via a link from the Services, including those of our corporate partners and sponsors, your IP address may be automatically received by that third party. No other information is provided by Flanders House to the operator of any third party website that you may visit via a link from the Services.
Flanders House may customize the content delivered to you based on your Profile and use of the Site and Services.
Revising Your Information
You may view and revise any of your information contained in your Profile and update the preferences and settings applicable to your Account at any time by visiting, respectively, the “Edit My Profile” and “Account Settings” features or similar editing tools available through the Services. When you share any Personal Information or other information through your use of the Services, you may not have the ability to revise, update, change or delete all such information in all cases.
You may deactivate your Account at any time by sending a request for deactivation to email@example.com. Your Profile will no longer be viewable by users of the Site, but may continue to be stored in Flanders House’s backup data storage systems and will be retained in accordance with Flanders House’s data retention policy and as necessary to comply with applicable federal, state and local laws.
Flanders House retains the right to deactivate your Account if we receive notice from your League that you are no longer a member of that League. When your Account is deactivated you will no longer be able to access your Account and your Profile will not be accessible to any Member. Your Personal Information will be handled as described in the preceding paragraph.
Protection of Information
Flanders House has implemented various administrative, technical and physical security measures, including firewalls as deemed necessary, to protect your Personal Information against unauthorized disclosure, use, loss/theft or modification. When you make a purchase using the Services, credit card numbers and other sensitive information such as your password are encrypted before it is sent to Flanders House by the use of secure socket layer technology (SLL), provided that you are using an SLL enabled browser. We do not use SLL technology when you submit Personal Information for any other purpose, including, but not limited to, the creation of an Account or registering for events (except and only to the extent that Personal Information regarding payment or passwords are included). No method of transmission or electronic storage can provide absolute certainty of security, and as such we cannot guarantee the absolute security of the Information that we collect.
Use of the Services by Children
Flanders House does not intend for use of the Services by children under 13 years of age, as further described in the Terms and does not knowingly collect Personal Information or other information from people under 13 years of age.
A note to residents of the European Union, Canada and Mexico:
As stated above, to create an Account and access the Services we do require that you provide certain Personal Information, including but not limited to your first and last name. Depending upon the Services that you use, you may also be asked to provide us with your mailing address, e-mail address, phone number, credit card number and/or pin/access code.
We will also collect other Personal Information that you choose to provide to us. For example, if you contact us for assistance or with an inquiry you may be asked to provide your first and last name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, order number (if inquiring about a purchase made through the Services) and such other information as you wish to submit to us for our assistance.
You may elect at any time not to provide Personal Information to us, but in that event you may not be able to create an Account or access the Services.
How to Contact Flanders House
